Pasir Ris Cat Abuses

The serial cat killer(s) has killed more cats these few weeks but the killng patterns have become more elusive; so are the killing tactics used. Here are the original posters put up by SPCA. Update on Pasir Ris case

According to Deidre Moss of SPCA, the first case at St 21, on 2nd May, the 5-month old kittens seemed to have died from head injuries. This implies that instead of being doused with thinner or the likes, they were more likely hit with the bottle and it broke, after which that was probably what the attacker used on the mother cat.

Three cats were found with fractured jaws in Pasir Ris. One is at the SPCA, and may still be alive.

That brings the known number of cats killed to 9 and 1 badly injured. The caregivers on the ground are working with the police to find out if there are related cases of cats found dead. The total reward offered for information leading to the arrest of the killer(s) is now $10K, supplied by various agencies and individuals.

At least 2 more known community cats are still missing from the same area where the first dead cats were found.

More cats dead in Pasir Ris

A caregiver asked me to pass this information around.

Kindly help me disseminate this very distressing info. My friends have been informed already.

We received a call this morning telling us of 3 cats found dead at the Pasir Ris fishing pond and 1 at Blk 531 which is very near to the pond. Same vicinity. All suspected poisoned.

SPCA has been informed and arrived to take pictures and remove the bodies for autopsy.

We’re not sure if this is a going to be a pattern… then the killer may be moving down from St 21 (nearer loyang side) to the middle Pasir Ris, and then may head towards other side of Pasir Ris…. and likely to be very late in night [edited for privacy].

We’re not sure how we can go about having overnight patrols of the whole of Pasir Ris… Any suggestions besides putting up of posters?

Another suspected abuse case in Pasir Ris

There’s a suspected abuse case in Pasir Ris again. Someone send in a link to a local forum. Here’s an excerpt:

Ive been feeding this mother cat & her 3 kittens at my hse ard in Pasir Ris.
This morning I saw of the kitten dead.
The kitten has blood around its face - mouth, nose, head.
The mother cat then came to me as I squatted down & kept using its head to touch my hands. She then walk around & starting meow-ing, which I don’t know what it was trying to do… But I suspect she is calling for her 2 other kittens..
One emgerged from a car & it was afraid of me.. yet it kept wanting to touch me..
I couldn’t help but cry.

The kitten then went to the dead sibling’s body & it starting licking on the bro’s ears.
SO SAD RIGHT……… it also used its paws to touch the lifeless body……

I suspect that it might be some accident at the carpark.. BUT no parts of it looked flattern or anything close to it.
An uncle then came by & he is the one who feeds them everyday.. He told me the kitten looked like it’s beaten to death.

Unfortunately, although CWS has contacts, we don’t have eyes everywhere. If you know something, please let us know.

It’s not easy to catch abusers. The problem comes in two parts - firstly, Singaporeans don’t like to get involved in their neighbour’s business. Secondly, people don’t think there’s a penalty involved when it comes to observing animal abuse. Put this together, and your average Singaporean will decide that they can just ignore animal abuse.

The thing is, sometimes people know who the abuser is. In a place like Singapore, someone always notices. But the problem is getting that person to be a witness.

In the meantime, the SPCA is offering $1000 to anyone who has information that can lead to the arrest of the abuser.
